Connor Smith joins from Joondalup

Your Cricket Committee have been busy during the festive period and are delighted to announce we have secured the services of Connor Smith for the 2019 season. Connor, a British passport holder is an exciting prospect coming through the Western Australia ranks and has represented WA at three State Carnivals and is playing Joondalup District, in the WACA Grade Competition.

Connor is an all-rounder who bowls left-arm seam and top order batsmen and has enjoyed success throughout the age-groups, playing at the Under-17 Championships in 2015 and 2017, plus the Under-19 Championships in December 2016.

Commenting, skipper Tom Marsland said, “It's really exciting to be able to bring a player of Connor's ability to the club, even though he's only a young lad, the standard of cricket he's played in Australia will stand him in good stead to be successful in English conditions in 2019. Jez and I had a really good Skype chat with Connor and I've no doubt that he'll bring a lot to the group both on and off the field. I'm really looking forward to the 2019 season and watching not only Connor, but all of our winter recruits play in the green & gold of Upton!”

We’ll hear more about Connor in the next few weeks and we very much look forward to welcoming him into the Club in early April.
