In the second article in this series, we explain how Chris is already turning into a Pommie

In this instalment we focus on Chris's bowling and fielding stats but also provide a quick update on his batting. This includes all games up to and including the Sunday 1sts match on 20th May, however, has also been updated in respect of some 2017 Sunday 1st matches omitted previously.

Overall

Chris has played 41 matches for Upton: 25 league; 7 cup and 9 friendlies, batting 39 times (he didn't bat in 2 of the friendlies). 25 of the games were at home and 16 away. He played 33 games in 2017 and has played 8 so far this season. He has played against 25 different opponents (Hyde will make that 26).

Batting

Overall, Chris has scored 1,496 runs at an average of 48.3. He has faced 1,867* balls, scored 153* 4s and 35* 6s and has a scoring rate of 80.1* runs per 100 balls. At Hyde on Saturday, he needs 4 to bring up 1,500 runs, 6 to bring up 400 runs in 2018, 29 to bring up 500 runs in May (2017 & 2018) and 97 to complete 800 runs away from home. Focusing just on league runs, he needs 37 to bring up 300 runs this season and 17 to complete 300 league runs in May.

Bowling

In all games, he has bowled 185.4 overs, 37 maidens, conceded 656 runs and taken 38 wickets. He has taken a wicket every 29.3 balls and has an average of 17.26. He has taken 26 league wickets at an average of 17.81, 8 cup wickets at 20.75 and 4 wickets in friendlies at 6.75. He certainly likes bowling at the UCG were he has taken 28 wickets in 107.2 overs (average 12.89 and a strike rate of 23) compared to 10 wickets away in 78.2 overs (average 29.50 and a strike rate of 47). In 2017 he took 28 wickets at 16.11 and so far this season he has taken 10 at 20.50. Over his time with us, June has proved his most effective month (strike rate of 12.83) but his lowest average (7.75) is in July. His best bowling figures (and his only 5fer to date) were his 5 for 31 from 15 overs against Stockport at UCG on 5th May this year.

Further analysis of his bowling in league games shows that 21 of his 26 wickets have come at the UCG at an average of 11.43. His full analysis is 86.2 - 24 - 240 - 21. Away from home his 5 wickets have been taken at an average of 44.6 and a strike rate of 74.6. Clearly he can't bowl away from home which just goes to show that even after such a short stay, we have already turned him into a Pommie! He has taken 7 league wickets this season at an average of 20.14.

Fielding

In all games, he has taken 13 catches, produced 5 run outs and (following last week) a stumping. In league games he has 6 catches and 3 run outs, in the cup 2 catches and a run out and in friendlies 5 catches, 1 run out and a stumping. He has 5 catches from 5 games in April, conversely he hasn't taken any in August or September and only 1 in July. 4 of his catches have been taken in 3 games against Bollington.

In league games, his 6 catches are equally split home and away whilst 2 of his 3 run outs have been at the UCG. Having only managed 4 catches all last season, he has 2 already this although all of his league run outs were in 2017. 5 of the 6 catches were in April and the 6th in June. 2 of his 3 run outs were achieved in May with the 3rd in August. As above 4 of his catches were against Bollington.
