UCC working with VSF to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest

Our charity partnership with Vital Signs Foundation took on a whole new sense of relevance this week with the news that England international cricketer; James Taylor (pictured here) has been forced to retire because of a serious heart condition.

It costs £4,000 to put on a heart screening in which the medical team will see up to 90 young people aged between 15 and 35 and our aim is to get some way close to that so as we can put on a screening at Upton Cricket Club for our members.

We've seen some fantatsic fundraising so far with £637 raised through the 'DryJanuary' efforts, and Brian Shenton is running the Port Sunlight 10k this coming Sunday to raise money for VSF.

Please help support this most worthy of charities in any way you can. We have a huge perspex 'heart' mounted on the wall by the bar, so drop any loose change in there, or visit our JustGiving page and lets help make a real difference.
