Pre-Season Friendly
On Saturday 13th April, pre-season friendlies have been arranged for both the 1st & 2nd XI’s at home against Rothley Park CC. Rothley Park play in the Leicestershire & Rutland league and romped Division One last season making a return to the Premier Division following relegation the previous season. Rothley Park are coached by former England international Phil Defreitas, who also turns out for them and picked up 34 wickets and averaged 49 with the bat last season.

The exact start time is yet to be confirmed for both 1st & 2nd XI games but we’re expecting the usual large UCC following to set things up nicely ahead of the opening fixture of the league season the following week when the 1’s entertain Bowdon.

Cheshire Cup
We are disappointed to announce that we have withdrawn from this years Cheshire Cup; a competition we have enjoyed partaking in for many years. The decision was not taken lightly and made because we feel the format of the draw gives an unfair advantage to clubs competing in another Sunday Knockout competition by giving them byes to the second round in order to help them with potential fixture congestion. While we understand the organisers have a difficult job it was felt they should have advised clubs of their intention to allow this when inviting them to apply to enter the competition. Had they done this then we may have made different decisions.
