Another fine mess......

Yet again dear reader the Gods of celeb birthdays have thrown up precious little for me to feast on this week with only Stan Laurel being born this day in 1890 of any note so the puns will be even harder to work in.

But hey ho lets go and we find our gallant band of First teamers who are going Great Guns heading along the M56 to mid table Urmston. Following last Saturdays fine win at Bowden, Tom and the boys will be looking to consolidate that top spot. They will have to neuter the batting of Callum Turner who has scored a double century this season and see off the bowling of Cole and Nathan Turner.

Heading Way Out West Urmston Seconds will be making the trip to the UCG. With Urmston seconds also sitting in mid table our boys will be looking to keep on the tail of Cheadle. After last weeks comprehensive win over Bowden they will want to keep their foot on the pedal and hope batsman Hanif and bowlers Edwards and Moore are kept in check.

Trekking to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Oxton to meet their 3rd XI Academy Ian's imperious third team will be keen to show they are no Block Heads. A fine victory over Neston has put the thirds at the top of their league by 23 points. Lets hope its Hats Off to them at the end of the day with another fine victory.

Finally on Saturday Unaccustomed as we are to playing after 2 blank Saturdays, the Fourth team entertain Old Parkonians on the back. Separated by a few points in the league, Ian will be looking to jump start his team of old and new into action in search of a second proper win of the season.

On Sunday when Barry Manilow celebrates his birthday, John Winder takes his team to the Copacabana, sorry Victoria Park, to play Tranmere Vics. While at home the clubs most successful and unbeaten team, Upton Ladies, will be playing Chester BH Ladies. I don't know if we have anyone called Mandy playing but lets hope they keep up their run of success.

So there you have it plenty of cricket for you at the weekend to gorge on. Oh there was one other celeb birthday on the 16th some football bloke called Klopp! But as he does not feature in the Walsall FC book of heroes I am not sure what he is famous for so thought it best not to mention him.
