The final run in starts...........

Well folks on the day that saw the creation of the American Society of Dentists, created in the teeth of opposition, Pierre Jansen laughing all the way to the bank when he discovered Helium, Mick Jagger getting the hump as he was accidentally shot on the set of Ned Kelly and silver screen smoothie Robert Redford was born we have a lot of excellent cricket to look forward to as the end of the season approaches.

After last weeks thriller, which the first team found A Bridge Too Far, they travel to rural Barrow and hope To Get Up Close and Personal to another 25 points. However they must ensure that they nullify the threat of Barrow all rounder de Silva who has scored 697 runs and taken 35 wickets this season. A similar result to our earlier match with Barrow where we won by 4 wickets would take The Sting out of last weeks disappointment.

Meanwhile at the UCG Tom Maguires seconds hope to run Barefoot Through the Park and continue their winning ways against Stockport Georgians. In the reverse fixture Stockport squeezed home in a low scoring game by one wicket. Lets hope for them that at the end of the game notAll is Lost and they can once again become The Candidate for promotion.

Stretton is the venue for our third team who are flying in the league like a Downhill Racer. With a commanding lead at the top they will be looking to be the first of our teams to secure promotion this season if they can conjure up a win.

With the return of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, aka Brucie and Scraggy, the Fourths entertain Bromborough on the back pitch. Riding high on last weeks win at Tranmere Vics and even though the fourths are not challenging for promotion Not All Is Lost as they will be looking to add more points to this seasons total which has already exceeded last years.

On Sunday Johnny Winders First XI travel to Ormskirk for their game against the Occasionals. Although there is no game for our Ladies XI do not fear cricket lovers as there is a Ladies Softball competition at the UCG.
Lets hope that this weekend all our teams are as successful as a Walsall team playing away at Tranmere!!!!(Sorry couldn't resist it)
