Its a Double Dose of Didders this saturday......

You may expect that on the 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon I would use this as this weeks theme for TCIF. However there is only so much mileage in moon related puns so i will harvest this weeks missive with No 1s on this date. So Apollogies for that in advance.....

On the front this week we entertain Didsbury 1sts who are currently 4th in the League. Having lost the corresponding game earlier in the season we hope that Somethings in the Air this week for Tom and the boys and some Good Timin' will allow our batsmen to Boom, Boom,Boom and put on a decent score. Didders have bowlers Booth, Gregson and Green in form and Hughes and Kamstra piling up the runs. With our boys needing a win to start climbing the table lets make sure The Club is alive on Saturday and we witness some Breathless cricket that leaves us All shook up!.

With Andy Beacher still standing in as Captain for new Dad Tom the Seconds are travelling to the far side of the moon, or at least Manchester, as they take on Didders 2nds looking for Another Chance to avenge an early season defeat at the hands of the 4th placed team. Given the length of the trip a Sunny Afternoon is to be hoped for as well as a much needed win but I believe we can do it. To do so they will have to counter the batting of Quasim and bowlers Mean and Catt.

So you win again was the shout heard from our 3rd team opponents as they sit at the top of their league. Sawdas men could not be blamed for thinking Its all over now but those wise heads know that Oakmere will be looking to gain revenge for an early season defeat at their place. Coming in on the back of a couple of wins Oakmere will i am sure provide a stern test for our 3rds D'you know what i mean?

Its been a long time since the Two Tribes of Upton 4ths and Caldy 3rds have faced each other in a League game. In years gone by there were some great games on the old Ponderosa ground at Paton Fields but thats now a bit of a Ghost Town. On Saturday however the Fourths make the short trip to Caldy to renew acquaintances with our old rivals. With Brucies boys and girls coming in on the back of three straight wins there could be a Temptation to think this game is a foregone conclusion. However to think that way is well Its a sin so I am sure the team will be focussed and have no Blurred Lines when taking on our opponents.

Now here is a question for you. Why has the Fourth Team been compared to a Hymn Book? Its because they both contain Ancient and Modern!

On Sunday its double bubble at the UGC. Our Women's team are taking on league leaders Leigh Women all the way from Lancashire in what should be a fascinating game. Having lost narrowly on their last outing to Nantwich ladies Caths team will be Livin la vide loca if they can win this one.

Also on Sunday Phil Woods 1st XI take on a Presidents XI. As this is an inter-club game we hope that Love is all around.

So the week after the 3 Lions stunning victory in the World Cup there is plenty of cricket to watch and put a Smile on your face.
