How things will operate at the Club...

With the return of cricket this week, we wanted to highlight how the club will operate under the latest Government guidelines.

Senior/Junior Cricket Matches
The ECB have published a full set of guidelines which can be found HERE. In the main they are the same as those conditions we played under last season, but we’ve picked out some of the key points as a reminder:

  • If you have one or more of the COVID-19 symptoms (as per the Government website) you should not attend any cricket activity and must follow NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation.
  • Players must arrive changed as Dressing Rooms will be closed. If the weather is wet kit should be kept in cars. A portable Gazebo may be available in certain games for storing kit.
  • No sweat or saliva is to be applied to the ball at any time. Any infringement should result in immediate disinfection of the ball.
  • Hygiene breaks in play are required every 6 overs/20 minutes

Junior Training
As per the recent announcement re: Junior Training (available HERE), we plan to operate this as close to ‘normal’ as possible however, in terms of numbers in each group, we are governed by what the ECB have published which is as follows:

  • Under 9’s is a ratio of 1 coach to 8 children
  • Under 11’s upwards is a ratio of 1 coach to 10 children

Whilst we will endeavour to have enough coaches to accommodate all those in attendance, there may be times where we must limit numbers. With this in mind, we can only allow juniors to train who have completed the online registration process.

As per the Government & ECB guidelines, one parent can accompany a child under the age of 18 but must maintain social distancing with other parents/carers in attendance.

The Club bar will be open but in terms of how we will operate on Friday evenings, please see the section titled ‘Bar’ below.

Spectators
Under the guidelines issued by the Government & ECB, spectators are NOT permitted to attend matches at this stage of the roadmap (hopefully introduced at Step 3 on 17th May).

Whilst this means we cannot allow people to simply come in and watch any matches taking place, we will be open for ‘outdoor hospitality’ (please see guidance under the ‘Bar’ section).

Bar
As per the Government guidelines at Step 2, the bar can open but for outdoor hospitality ONLY. So how will this operate for us…

  • Seating will be set out which adheres to the guidelines for outdoor hospitality. The positioning of this seating should not be moved as it has been set out in accordance with the necessary guidelines.
  • Due to limited capacity, the outdoor hospitality area will be open for fully paid-up Club Members only. Should there be no seating available, you will be asked to wait for a table to become free, which must be done in a socially distanced way and numbers of people allowed to wait may be limited
  • Members will be required to order, pay, be served and drink while seated. Bar staff will be available to take your order whilst you are seated outside.
  • Contactless payment is encouraged
  • Toilet facilities will be available indoors with one-way systems in place where possible, but members must wear a face covering when going indoors to use these facilities
  • The ‘rule of 6’ will apply. Please familiarise yourself with what this means as per the Government definitions.
  • All members & guests must scan the NHS Test & Trace QR Code which will be positioned at key locations around the Club, or register their details on the sheets located outside the clubhouse

Whilst we will stay on top of the ever-changing landscape & guidelines, we encourage members to familiarise themselves with these protocols and the latest Government guidelines at each stage of the roadmap so we can all play our part and continue to make UCC the friendly, secure environment we enjoyed last year.

Above all else, please be respectful to other members and their views in relation to the current situation. Some may be more cautious than others, and we want everybody to feel comfortable and safe in the environment we have created.

The next few weeks will throw up various challenges, but if we all play our part we can make things work.

Thank you
