Ross Dixon to play final game this Saturday

Ross Dixon is set to make his final appearance for the first XI this Saturday against Brooklands at the UCG before emigrating to Australia on Monday morning with Elle and Margot. Ross and family are making the permanent move to Albury, Wodonga, where he is due to start a job in July and will be returning to play for Albury Cricket Club for 2019/2020 season.

In a twist of fate Ross' final fixture mirrors his first team debut in 2004 aged 12 also against Brooklands at home. Ross represented the first XI until 2008 and returned in 2018 having captained Chester Boughton Hall to the 2017 Premier Division title.

Ross said, "Playing for Upton again was an amazing experience, I cannot thank everyone enough for their support, friendship and making Elle and Margot so welcome. Getting to follow in my families' footsteps to captain the club in Tom's absence last year was a privilege and a dream come true. I wish everyone at Upton all the best for the future and it makes me immensely proud to see the growth of the club on and off the field under both Jez and Tom.

As one of the standout players in the County League for many years, Ross will certainly be missed and his return last season was a major coup for the club where he played a massive part in the title challenge that was mounted. Ross will undoubtedly want to go out on a high and add to the 149 wickets he has in 1st XI cricket for the club.

Eveyone at the club wishes Ross, Elle and Margot all the best for the future life 'down under' and we look forward to seeing them back at the club when they return for a 'holiday' in the coming years.

Ross would like to invite everyone to join him and his family for a drink after the game on Saturday where you can bid your own personal farwell.
