1st XI v ASHTON-ON-MERSEY (H)

Preview: Matt Owen leads the 1st XI in his first game in charge of the 2022 season with plenty of optimism after an encouraging pre-season programme. The team got a good run out last week against Caldy in a pre-season friendly which has set them up well for the league season. The squad has been strengthened with the arrival of Lachlan Ford who joins from Western Suburbs in New South Wales who will complement the bowling attack.
Previous Meeting: 24 July 2021 - Ashton-on-Mersey won by 4 wickets chasing 147. Dan Owen top scored with 38 and Phil McGowan took 3 wickets

2nd XI v Timperley (a)
Date/Time: Sat 23 April |12pm
Preview: In a repeat of the fixture on the closing day of the 2021 season, Sam Talbot’s 2nd XI go into the season looking to improve on their league position. Sam is able to select a strong & experienced line up with a nice blend of youth thrown in, with Tom Wood getting some invaluable time on the field last week for the 1st XI.
Previous Meeting: 11 Sept 2021 – In a high scoring game, Timperley (318/7) had too much for Upton (251ao) where Sam Talbot (100) top scored with Luca DiStefano (84) also fairing well.

3rd XI v ASHLEY (H)
Date/Time: Sat 23 April |12pm
Preview: Ian Sharrock once again leads the 3’s as they look to get off to a solid start when they welcome Ashley 2’s to the back pitch. Ian is able to call on several of his ‘regulars’ and is bolstered by the addition of Martin Oliver, with Clive Moore adding some strength to the batting after a solid winter.

4th XI v Irby (a)
Date/Time: Sat 23 April |1pm
Preview: New 4’s skipper Kevin Jackson takes his team just up the road to take on Irby 3’s in a game where they will be looking to reverse the result of the last game of the 2021 season.
Previous Meeting: Irby won off the last ball of the game chasing Upton’s 139 where Dave Charles (44) top scored.

Ladies XI v Woodley (a)
Date/Time: Sun 24 April |1.30pm
Preview: Lily Scudder leads the Ladies XI in their opening fixture as they make the long trip to Woodley who are promoted after a near exemplary campaign in 2021. The Ladies will be looking to push on from last season and secure a promotion spot, and with plenty of young talent coming through, the squad depth will be well utilised this season.
Previous Meeting: 5 August 2018 – Woodley wone by 1 wicket in the last over chasing 121 with Charlie Scudder (32) leading with the bat and Ellen McGowan (4-16) the main bowler.
