Opening bat joins from Barrow

The good news keeps coming at Upton CC as we continue to shape the squad for 2026 – and we’re delighted to announce that Jack Randle will be joining us from Barrow Cricket Club.

Jack arrives after an impressive 2025 season, where he captained Barrow to a 3rd-place finish in Division 3 of the Cheshire County Cricket League. An accomplished opening batsman, he scored nearly 700 1st XI runs last year, including a brilliant 101 not out against Mobberley, and also earned a reputation as a very athletic fielder. With that level of performance, it’s no surprise that several clubs were keen to secure his signature this winter – and we’re thrilled he’s chosen Upton as his new home.

Before joining Barrow in 2021, Jack was playing his cricket in Warwickshire before moving north to pursue his career as a vet. Since then, he’s quickly established himself as one of the most consistent performers for Barrow.

1st XI Captain Tom Marsland said:
“We’re really pleased to have Jack on board. He’s shown great ability as a consistent run-scorer at the top of the order, and his experience as a captain means he’ll add a lot both on and off the field. We know there was plenty of interest in him from other clubs, so it’s a big boost that he’s chosen Upton. I’m looking forward to seeing him settle in and make a real impact in 2026.”

Jack himself added:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Upton CC. The infectious positivity from both the ambitious Captain and Cricket Chairman were crucial in my decision to play here. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the lads and improving my game here at Upton. I can’t wait to get out on the field and help the club progress up the leagues. I have no doubt we will have plenty of success together!”

We’re excited to welcome Jack into the Upton family and can’t wait to see him in action this summer. And with more news still to come, there’s plenty for Upton supporters to look forward to as the new season draws closer…
