After saying a few temporary goodbyes last week, we’re delighted to be able to share some exciting news – Upton CC is welcoming a new face to the 1st XI for 2026. Please join us in giving a huge Upton welcome to Nathan Brown.

Nathan joins us from Timperley, where he’s been a mainstay of their 1st XI for nearly two decades. An experienced all-rounder and former 1st XI captain, Nathan has played over 400 games at the top level since making his debut back in 2007. In that time, he’s piled up almost 6,000 runs and taken more than 350 wickets with his spin bowling.

Having moved into the area a couple of years ago, Nathan has continued to turn out for Timperley, but 2026 will see him pulling on Upton colours for the first time. With his experience, quality and leadership, we know he’ll bring a huge amount both on and off the field.

1st XI Captain Tom Marsland said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Nathan to Upton. His record at Premier League level speaks for itself, but just as importantly, he’s a great character who we know will fit straight into the club. With the changes in our senior leadership group this year, having someone of Nathan’s experience around the squad is going to be a massive boost.”

Nathan himself added:

“I'm really excited to get started at Upton, it's the only place I could see myself playing once I made the decision to have a shorter commute to cricket! The vibe around the place, the community feel, the togetherness and warmth of the club as a whole made an immediate impact on me when I started coaching. I hope to help the club in the short term on the playing side with our clear aim of promotion in 2026 but more importantly help build a long term project that sees us help the promising youngsters at Upton fulfill their potential and become regulars throughout the senior teams. I'm incredibly impressed with the ambition, desire and organisation of the club's committee and firmly believe we're at the start of a huge and exciting project and we can all together take this club to heights it hasn't been before.”

Nathan’s arrival comes as part of a fresh chapter for the club, with a new senior leadership team also in place for the 2026 season. More details on that will continue to be shared very soon – but for now, we’re thrilled to have Nathan on board and can’t wait to see him in action this summer. Welcome to the Upton family, Nathan!
