We are delighted to announce the signing of Rick Moore, in what represents a major addition to the club’s senior playing squad.
One of the most prominent players in the history of the Cheshire County Cricket League, Rick brings a wealth of experience, proven quality and a record that speaks for itself. His arrival is a real statement of intent for Upton, and the club is thrilled to welcome a player of his calibre to Old Greasby Road.
Rick is best known for his time at Chester Boughton Hall, where he captained the 1st XI and established himself as one of the leading players in the Cheshire Premier League. His record at that level is outstanding, having made 232 Premier League appearances, scoring 7,594 runs and taking 171 wickets.
His achievements in Minor County cricket are equally impressive. A former Cheshire captain, Rick represented the county on 113 occasions, scoring 4,634 runs, including eight centuries, and claiming 84 wickets. His highest score of 175 not out against Cambridgeshire stands out as a particularly impressive milestone in a distinguished county career.
The signing brings not only a proven performer to the club, but also a huge amount of experience and leadership. Rick’s all-round ability and understanding of the game will be a significant asset to Upton, both on the field and within the wider squad.
Commenting, Rick Moore said, "Really excited to get going. Having followed the success of last year from afar and seeing the buzz around the club, I’m looking forward to being involved seeing where we can get to as a club!"
Upton 1st XI Captain Tom Marsland is equally pleased to have secured the signing, with Rick’s arrival adding real quality and experience to the side ahead of the new season, and was in effervescent mood saying, “Having played with and against Rick plenty of times over the years, I know exactly the quality he’s going to bring with bat, ball, and in the field, his record speaks for himself. He’s one of the best players the county has ever produced and we’re absolutely over the moon to have him. He will add so much both on and off field, and he will fit into the Upton ethos so well, and me and Joe can speak to him about our time at Leeds Met every week and annoy Dixon, the perfect addition!”
Everyone at Upton Cricket Club is delighted to welcome Rick to the club and looks forward to seeing him in green & gold
Welcome to Upton, Rick!
