Preview: Following their defeat to Haslington last Saturday, the 1s responded well on Sunday, reaching the 1st XI T20 Qualifiers Cup Finals Day with a comprehensive 120-run win over Oulton Park. Matt Owen will also be looking for a return to form in the league as his team travel to bottom of the table Ashton-on-Mersey. There are three changes as Joe Green and Phil McGowan come back into the side, while there is also a return in Upton colours for Matt Ingram after a period away from the club. The all-rounder will certainly add some quality to the squad for the remainder of the season.

2nd XI vs HEATON MERSEY (H)

Preview: The 2s will be looking to stop the rot after three straight defeats – most recently, a 7-wicket loss against Sale (despite Joe Smith’s excellent unbeaten maiden century for the club). Still, Rich Battersby welcomes Heaton Mersey to Old Greasby Road on Saturday with the promotion spots still very much in reach going into the back half of the season. The skipper makes three changes as the experienced trio of Graeme Keenan, Dan Newhouse and Tom Woods all return to the side. Heaton Mersey come into this one off the back of a tough 7-wicket defeat to Lindow, having been skittled out for just 78 runs.

Preview: Narrow defeats have been a bit of a theme for the 3s so far this season, with last weekend being no different as Luke Williams’ team fell agonisingly short against league leaders Alderley Edge – losing by just 8 runs. However, this week they have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways against Oakmere 2s, who are currently bottom of the league. The side is bolstered by Faiz Ahmed, George Williams and Sam Williams all returning this weekend. Oakmere, meanwhile, find themselves on a nine-match losing streak, most recently suffering a heavy 133-run defeat against Romiley.

Preview: Last week’s 9-wicket defeat to Maritime was one to forget for the 4s as they go into a must-win game in their efforts to stay up this Saturday. Skipper Phil Wood makes six changes for the short trip to Old Parks: Ethan Evans, Nathan Jones, Rowan Pennwilliams, Dylan Sandison and Alex Waring all come into the side, while there is a senior Saturday debut for Charlie Saunders. Old Parks currently prop up the table but have the division’s fourth highest run scorer in Tim Hitchell (one of five ‘Hitchells’ on the scorecard the last time these sides met).

Preview: The top two sides in the division meet again this Sunday as the Ladies XI travel to Didsbury looking to avenge their defeat to Didsbury 2s in June and extend their lead at the top of the table at the same time. Upton are well positioned to do so having both the leading run scorer (Lily Scudder) and leading wicket taker (Alexa Harrison) in the division in their team. Captain Ellen McGowan makes two changes this week as Ava Prior and Charlie Scudder return to the side. Didsbury haven’t played since their previous match against Upton, while Upton beat Northop Hall by 31 runs last time out.

Sunday 1st XI vs Old Parkonians Sunday Development XI (A)

Preview: The Sunday 1s will be looking to continue their good form after last week’s 10-run win over Lymm Oughtrington Park as they travel to Old Parkonians CC to face their Sunday Development XI (for the handful of Upton 4s players involved, it will be their second trip to Old Parks in as many days!). Callum McCormick skippers the side again this weekend and there are four changes as in come Ravi Dhote, Sean Lynch, Charlie Saunders and Charlie Vernon. Old Parks will be hoping for more of a contest this week, after being beaten by Chester County Officers Sunday XI by 129 runs last Sunday.
Previous Meeting: 10 September 2023: Old Parks won a thriller by 2 wickets. Upton scored 177 all out (Tom Wood 53*; George Williams 52) before Old Parks made it to 178/8 with two balls left in the innings (Nathan Jones 3-23).
