1st XI vs Cheadle Hulme (A)
Date/Time: Sat 13 June | 12:00pm
Preview: Skipper Tom Marsland names an unchanged side for the trip to Cheadle Hulme. After a slightly stuttering start, he will be hoping the momentum from his side’s excellent run continues. Victories in their last 3 league games have moved the 1’s steadily up the table into 5th position. Luke Camden will be looking to add to his fantastic century last week in the 7 wicket win against Grappenhall, which included a record-breaking 2nd wicket stand of 188 with Matty Owens. With the ball, Phil McGowan will be pushing to improve on his current standing in 3rd place in the league’s leading wicket taker rankings. Opponents Cheadle Hulme have enjoyed a reasonable start themselves, notching 3 league victories and getting the better of a very tight encounter away at North-East Cheshire last week, in which the home side only managed to reach 197ao, chasing a target of 200. Hayden Forner could be the man to watch for the team from Grove Park having plundered 296 league runs already this season, as well as a 165 off just 68 balls in a T20 cup encounter against Ashton-on-Mersey back in May.
League Position: Upton – 5th | Cheadle Hulme – 9th
Leading Run Scorers: Upton – Luke Camden (249) | Cheadle Hulme – Hayden Forner (296)
Leading Wicket Takers: Upton – Phil McGowan (18) | Cheadle Hulme – Scott Howarth (15)
Previous Meeting: 6 September 2025: Cheadle Hulme won by 10 wickets having chased down Upton’s 190ao (Matty Brayne 47) in 33 overs.
2nd XI vs Neston (h)
Date/Time: Sat 13 June | 12:00pm
Preview: Batts has selected a very experienced side to take on Neston at Old Greasby Road and will be looking to bounce back in style in what looks to be a must win encounter. Ian Potter, Nick Cockrell and Adam Neal return and will be hoping to add firepower to the batting line up. Tom Wood will be striving to add to his 18 league wickets that put him in 3rd place in the league’s leading wicket takers (just 1 wicket behind leading wicket taker Lindow’s Charlie Rourke) at this early stage. Last week away at Timperley didn’t quite go to plan as our 2’s were undone by a very sharp bowling attack, with only Tom Woods (38) and veteran Darren Warburton (26) managing to contribute any significant runs as they were bowled out for 94, losing by 5 wickets. Local friends and rivals Neston will no doubt bring a very competitive team as they go in search of their first league win of the campaign having lost again last week against Brooklands by 6 wickets, despite fielding a strong looking team.
League Position: Upton – 10th | Neston – 12th
Leading Run Scorers: Upton – Darren Warburton (232) | Neston – Finlay Scullion (188)
Leading Wicket Takers: Upton – Tom Wood (18) | Neston – Jake Christley / Finlay Scullion (10)
Previous Meeting: 14 September 2019: Upton won by 9 wickets having bowled Neston out for 99 (Graeme Keenan 4/28, Rich Battersby 4/31) and then knocking the runs off for the loss of 1 wicket (Sam Talbot 40*)
3rd XI vs Ashton on Mersey 2nd XI (A)
Date/Time: Sat 13 June | 12:00pm
Preview: Upton’s 3rd XI continue to surpass expectations under the guidance of Captain Luke Williams and will be looking for victory away at Ashton on Mersey to get their season back on track following defeat in their last two league encounters. The 3’s welcome back Nikhil Nataraj and Sam Williams who have both enjoyed experience in 1st XI cup fixtures in recent weeks. AOM were beaten by 8 wickets away at Cheadle Hulme last week whilst Upton 3’s lost a close encounter (is it ever any other way with our 3’s?) by 6 runs, just failing to chase down Urmston’s 229 total. AOM like Upton have lost their last two league fixtures so will be looking to get back to winning ways, so a good contest is guaranteed.

Leading Wicket Takers: Upton – Luke Williams (12) | Ashton on Mersey – Ryan Carey (13)

Date/Time: Sat 13 June | 1:00pm
Preview: Upton 4th XI will be looking to get back on track after last week’s disappointing 8 wicket defeat to Old Parks (Sam Cliff 23). There are plenty of reasons to remain positive for Captain Phil Wood as the team still lie in 2nd position in Divison C West. Patrick Waring and Louis Turner return and all at UCC will no doubt extend a very warm welcome to debutants Praveen Fredy and Euan Walton ahead of their first appearance for the Green and Gold. Barrow are yet to record their first win of the season and come into the fixture having been well beaten by Bunbury last weekend with Bunbury chasing down the 104 target set inside 16 overs.

Previous Meeting: 23 May 2026: Upton beat Barrow by 5 wickets with Barrow scoring 157ao (Phil Wood 3/25) and Upton reaching the total thanks mainly to a 61 from ‘evergreen’ Rob Chapman.
Ladies 1st XI vs Greenfield (h)
Date/Time: Sun 14 June | 1:30pm
Preview: Upton ladies will be looking to get back on track after a couple of defeats. The trip to Hayfield last week ended in disappointment with our ladies being bowled out for 58 and Hayfield chasing the total down in 17 overs for the loss of 3 wickets (Alexa Harrison 3/8). Greenfield will be looking to gain their first win of the season. They conceded their last fixture but prior to that were beaten by Didsbury after posting a respectable looking 155ao.
