Saturday saw the first team make the trip to North East Cheshire or in old money Poynton Cricket Club. Another weekend saw three changes with Yeates, Owen (D) and Marsland All returning in place of Captain Owen, Camden and Stowell-Smith.

The pre-match didn't go as smoothly as several members of the side got stuck coming from the Chester area, but the shortened warm-up caused little issue when Captain for the day Matthew Smith won the toss and elected to bowl.

Upton's all ginger opening attack of McGowan and Brayne wasted little time with good overhead conditions. The hosts quickly got into trouble with McGowan taking a wicket off the first ball of the match and in the next over Brayne joined the act with his opening bowling counterpart McGowan taking two slip catches in a matter of minutes.

At three for three, NE Cheshire were really under the pump, and though going past the bat regularly after 10 overs the home side had managed to rally making it to 25 for 3.

Smith made a double change with Joe Williams and Umer Zeb taking up the mantle. This change brought instant results with Williams starting on his way with two quick wickets, including a top class catch from Tom Marsland stood up to the stumps. Tom had that on his social media channels within hours of the match finishing.

Wickets were falling regularly as Williams added his third and fourth and with Dave Williams joining him at the far end it saw the green and gold have the home team 60 for 9. David grabbed a wicket for himself while Joe had picked up a five haul. A clinic in wicket-to-wicket bowling from the North Walean.

The final pair were problematic to remove and though not scoring particularly quickly. They did add 24 when Umer took the shoulder of the number 11's bat for Marsland to complete his excellent day with a low one-handed catch. At half-time 85 was the total to chase down.
With usual opener Owen enjoying a summer break, overseas player McArthur was joined by maverick Mikey Yeates to set at the NE Cheshire attack. The home side stunned by the early onslaught as Yeates in particular had his sweeps and reverses out. Not to be out done, Macca let loose with some more traditional but equally as effective shots all around the ground. The opening pair took the game away from NE Cheshire in first 5 overs and when Yeates fell for a quickfire 21 it was left to McArthur: joined by Dan Owen to blitz the Green and Gold to the score inside the 12th over. The Australian talisman passing 50 yet again and securing a nice 20 points by 4pm. With news filtering in of the 2nds chase attentions turned to the UCG and getting back to see Luca bringing home the twos.

Big home game next week to Christleton looking to do the league double over our local rivals, Captain Owen and Luke Camden return for the top 6 clash at the UCG.
