This Sunday Upton Ladies, returned to winning ways as they welcomed Northop Hall to Old Greasby Road.
Ellen lost the toss, and Northop Hall elected to bowl, resulting in Lily and Phillipa to be sent out to the crease to begin our batting attack. After some crucial batting partnerships between Lily, Praba, Sophie and Cath, we ended our innings 154 all out. Lily as the top scorer on 63, and Praba and Sophie putting 24 and 21 runs on the board each.
We then set out to field ready to begin our defence. The innings saw Liv and Phillipa open the bowling for Upton, both keeping it tight and putting Northop Hall’s batters under pressure from the start.
Then saw the start of the fall wickets as Hannah and Alexa came into the bowling attack, taking 3 wickets between them. All of which were a team effort as Ellie, Ellen and Sophie all took a catch each, as a result of the pressure that was built off dot balls and tight fielding from the team. Our fielding efforts didn’t stop there, as Jess was brought into the attack and her second wicket saw a one-handed catch from Ellie leaving Northop Hall 123-6.
Overall, a fantastic team effort in the field leading to a crucial win and the start of our comeback as we continue our push for the league title.
