Jack played for the club from the early 1950s until the 70s as an opening batsman but will be more notably remembered for his role as a coach. Jack started coaching shortly after his playing career in the 1970s at Upton before eventually becoming a coach for Lancashire until the 2000s. He helped bring through generations of Upton Juniors, many of whom went on to play for the 1st XI. In 2010, Jack was honoured with the Harry Cowley award for his outstanding contribution and dedication to the club. To further cement Jack’s legacy at the club, he has a junior award named after him, this is presented annually to the Junior member who shares his values of good sportsmanship, a real love for the game and a club first mentality.
