Joe & Joan were staunch supporters of Upton as soon as their two eldest sons, Michael & Simon first joined with youngest son Graeme making his junior debut a few years later. Joe got involved in some coaching and transporting of teams around Wirral as well as making the occasional appearance when a senior team found itself short while Joan was always a vocal supporter and happy to lend a hand with teas when required.
Eventually Joe took on the running of the junior section, becoming a Life Vice President of the club and in his later years he became a more than competent cellar man taking in the beer deliveries and keeping the pipes clean so all members could enjoy their post match pint.
They were never happier than when watching their children and later their grandchildren from the boundary edge with their faithful dog Smarty in tow.
